Garrison Brothers Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey
|Region||United States, Texas|
Welcome to Garrison Brothers, home of the first and oldest legal whiskey distillery in Texas. Like everything in the Lone Star State, our dreams were big from the start. We didn't want to make just any bourbon - we wanted to make the best bourbon ever made. Anywhere. We're confident we succeeded and have no doubt you'll agree. Subtle nose of golden delicious apple-meat and honey. Sweet floral verbena, fresh cut grass, saddle leather, cinnamon and honey. Springtime flavors of honeysuckle and orange candy, yellow pound cake, baking spices, lemon gumdrops, and sugar cookies. Long and engrossing finish. Complex. Smoky county fair caramel apple sprinkled with walnuts and cinnamon.
This amber-hued whiskey is made with Texas corn, and the label on the bottle provides an endearing amount of detail, spelling out the corn variety (#1 Panhandle white) and where it was farmed (Dallam County), the year the corn was harvested, plus details related to distillation and aging. The whiskey itself is a bit oaky, showing some vanilla and caramel, finishing long and slightly hot. I'd love to see a longer-aged version of this whiskey.
